An internet browser or a web browser is a software application we use in surfing the internet. It can view various types of websites, images, and videos all over the World Wide Web. There are several browsers available that comes with different features.
Popular Web Browsers
- Microsoft Internet Explorer. The most common browser that comes built into Microsoft Windows.
- Mozilla Firefox. This browser is known to be faster and safer than Internet Explorer. This is the most popular alternative to Internet Explorer. It runs on various operating systems such as Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.
- Google Chrome. This is a relatively new browser and was released by Google in September of 2008. This particular browser is quick and easy to use.
- Opera.
- Safari. This is the default browser for MAC computers. In June of 2007, a new version of Safari was released that supports Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
- AOL. We decided to add AOL to this list because it is now FREE of charge to most users. AOL is great for beginners and comes with many easy to use features all in one program. If you have a high-speed internet connection you can download AOL free of charge, with no monthly payments.
Choosing your browser
Choosing the right browser for you depends on your own preference. Most users are satisfied with Internet Explorer, but it is very common amongst technical people to use Mozilla Firefox and/or Google Chrome.
