The features and stability exceeded user expectations and made Windows XP popular over almost a decade. When Windows Vista emerged, 95% of users rejected it. However, most computers are no longer coming with Windows XP. If you have a Windows Vista system and would like it to resemble XP here is how:

Changing your Windows Vista to look like Windows XP is quite easy; just follow these simple steps below:

1.       Windows Vista has the Windows Sidebar visible by default. If you don’t use it you’ll only find it to be a mess and it is just an additional running process that can contribute to slowing your computer down. To get rid of it, right-click on the Sidebar interface, then click Properties. Windows Sidebar Properties will appear and uncheck Start Sidebar when Windows Starts, then click OK. You need to right-click on the Sidebar again and click “Close Sidebar.”

2.       To change the desktop to look like XP, you have to choose Windows Classic theme under the Personalization menu. To do this, right-click on the desktop and click Personalize. When Personalization appears, click Theme. Then from the Themes drop down menu, choose Windows Classic then click OK.

3.       After step 2, you may be wondering where the icons have gone. To add Windows XP’s desktop icons, right-click on the desktop again, click Personalize, then click Change desktop icons on the upper left-hand side. When Desktop Icon Settings dialog box will appear, put a check mark on all desktop icons, and then click Ok.

4.       You will notice the icons on the desktop are still larger than they are in XP. You may change its size by right-clicking on the desktop, click View, and then click Classic Icons.

1. Right-click anywhere inside a folder, drive, or your desktop | select New | then Folder
2. It will now create New Folder
3. Right-click on New Folder | choose Rename
4. Type a folder name
