It is inevitable that your laptop screen will accumulate some dust and dirt. This makes the text less sharp and pictures less vibrant. Cleaning the LCD display will help you keep your computer in pristine condition and the way it’s intended to be. So, what is the proper way of cleaning the laptop monitor?

The LCD screen is one of the most expensive components of your notebook and it is very sensitive, unlike the standard CRT monitors with glass screens that you can clean using merely any kind of cloth. When cleaning LCD screens, you need to be wise in choosing the right materials to use. Try to avoid using tap water as it may leave white marks on the screen . Avoid touching the screen with your fingers as they might stain or smudge the surface with oil and grease (unless it’s a touch screen of course).

Below are a few steps that MyCuredComputer recommends on how to properly clean your laptop screen:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Prepare the solution for cleaning LCD screen. You will need distilled water or Isopropyl Alcohol. Do not use ammonia, acetone, or any strong cleaning liquids on the screen. Using harmful chemicals, can damage the surface of the screen
  3. Moisten a piece of cloth using the solution and gently rub the screen in just one direction. Be sure your cloth is not dripping solution, as this could easily damage the keyboard and other components.
  4. Do not use towels or tissue papers as the fabric may scratch your LCD screen permanently.
  5. Do not press hard on the LCD.
  6. Edges can be cleaned using any ordinary cleaner but make sure it will not touch the screen itself or drip into any components.

Always clean your LCD screen at least once or twice a month. Moreover, be mindful while eating and drinking in front of your computer since dirt from foods that may drop on your keyboard may stick on your LCD screen when you close the lid.

Maintenance of your computer is not only limited to virus protection, operating system updates, and security updates. Making your computer clean inside and out can make a whole lot difference. How to Recover Accidently Deleted Files

There are several ways to recover accidentally deleted files. In Windows, it will first go to the recycle bin.  For these cases, you need to access the recycle bin and select the deleted files and choose to restore it. This procedure will not work for files that have been “permanently” deleted. Examples of “permanently” deleted files are the following:

1.    Files deleted that does not go to the recycle bin.

2.    Files deleted from a memory card or USB flash drive.

3.    Files lost due to formatting the drive.

Recovering “permanently” deleted files

Recovering permanently deleted files require utility software. This is possible because the drive does not really delete the file but rather erase the “marker” that identifies that file. It would remain possible to recover the file as long as the physical space on the drive has not been overwritten by another file. There are several file recovery software that you can download from the internet. One of the best one is Recuva. It is a file recovery program from the creator of CCleaner and it is a freeware. The makers are trusted among computer technicians so you do not need to worry about false software or this program causing problems on your computer.

Prevention

Prevention is better than cure. You should always backup your important files. Create several copies of it in different media like USB flash drive, blank disc, online backup, or attach the file to your email and send it to yourself.
